Granulosa Cell Tumor And Hysterectomy

Subject: Granulosa Cell Tumor and Hysterectomy

I was diagnosed early last year with an encapsulated Granulosa Cell Tumor and had the affected ovary removed. My oncologist recommeded the 'conservative' approach for me - no hysterectomy, no chemo, only bloodtests and CT Scans. Shortly thereafter I was blessed with a miracle pregnancy and delivered late last year.

I am in my early 30's and have 4 children and do not foresee having more babies. With that in mind, my oncologist now recommends a total hysterectomy and removal of the other ovary. I would like some objective information. . . Is there anyone that had a similar situtation with a later hysterectomy? Does anyone have any statistics on how my risk of recurrance will be affected by having a hysterectomy or not?

 Thanks, Mutende
