My husband has just been diagnosed with cancer in the liver that is metastic SCLC lung cancer. Chemo helped his lung tumor, but it now appears to be in his liver. On the CT scan today, I saw spots in the liver. He will have Topotecan treatment if he can tolerate it. He is weak at this point after 3 1/2 months since diagnosis.
Can anyone give me an idea of the prognosis of this type of cancer in the liver. I don't really know what to expect. The dr is not forthcoming so far.
Thanks
Lacey, I am so sorry to hear of your husbands diagnosis, but your Doctor HAS to be forthcoming. You have to know what you are up against. How are you and your husband supposed to make educated decisions if you dont know what is going on. That is ridiculous. The days of doctors being Gods is long gone, you do not have to put up with that. If you have a housekeeper than is not doing a good job, what do you do? Fire them and find someone that will do the job right. We are not talking about your home here, we are talking about your husbands life. You should not be scouring the internet for answers, he should be giving them to you. That is unacceptable hon, I don't know who he thinks he is but you and your husband are his boss,it is NOT the other way around. Ask around for some referrals, or better yet call your insurance company and tell them the situation and have them refer you to someone else, and the run don't walk to the new doctor. I am serious. This is way to important to let slide. I have worked in hospitals for years and that is inadequate medical care.
