I went through 35 Radiation treatments for Stage 3 Throat Cancer in 2003. Had 2 rounds of Cisplaten and 3 weeks on 5 F/U Chemo. Radiation has affected my Thyroid Gland and wiped out my saliva glands. Now I have carry a drink with me all the time. Good Luck to you
have you had any problems with your shoulder joints from having radiation to the throat area? My husband had cisplaten and also 8 weeks of radiation to the throat with squamash cell cancer. He not has horrible pain in his shoulder and can't lift his left arm..same side the cancer was on in his throat. It was in his lymph node but they said it was confined to this throat. How do they really know this? Do most cancers come back? He still can not swallow, has problems eating and also must drink water and has finished treatment since February 2008. Does it ever end?
