I understand that the hardest part is to keep going. My husband has adenocarconomia IIIB NCCLC. When we first found out we tried to "outrun" it going to doctors, getting more tests until we were both exhausted. He went through 7 1/2 wks chemo and radiation and I saw him go from a very active person to what he is now...sleeping in a chair with his chin on his hand over a trash can because of the coughing and choking on phlem. I keep saying to myself...DON'T give up...although he seems to be giving up at times. 4 months of running that has only led to worse diagnosis but we are still working on beating cancer.
He has had vertralplasty because his T9 vertebrae collapsed, extreme side affects that hospitalized him and came to a point he couldn't swallow much. The docs now are saying he quit his treatment. He didn't quit he just had to have his back fixed a port put in, dehydration, side affects that mandated hospital care, etc. When someone is that sick chemo and radiation is the last thing wanted. When you are sick you do not want to get sicker. Continuing treatment was still an option until we heard them say that he quit. First plan was 5 wks then they added days then weeks..what do they expect from a sick person????
This is so hard to do and I am just the caregiver. My heart goes out to you and everyone that is on the sidelines. We have been married 35 years so it feels like I have cancer too.
If you will stay tough, I promise I will too.
