I was on topotecan from July 07 until February 08. I found the side effects to be fairly mild. I did experience hair loss and had to watch my red blood count closely. I did have to have a transfusion in November 07. Why is you doctor putting you on topotecan? When I relapsed I went on Gemzar alone in Sept. 06( I developed an allergy to the carboplatin) and stayed on that until July 07 when we saw progression. I went off the topotecan in February when we saw more progression. Now I am going to Dana Farber in Boston and doing the Carboplatin desensitization program. So now I am on Carboplatin alone. The topotecan kept things stable for about 6 to 7 months. I was dx'd 4/04 stage IV.
