Hi - I am 50 yrs old and 4 weeks ago  I had a total Hysterectomy with Lymph nodes removed.

I had a 12MM Granulosa cell tumor on my right ovary that was cancerous.  It ruptured upon removal but the cancer had not spread to the Lymph nodes or any other organs.  It was classified stage 1C.  I am being advised not to have chemo but to monitor for reaccurance every 6 months with Ct scans and Blood tests for my Inhibin level.  I just had an Inhibin A blood test to use as a marker.  The level was 10.

What is a normal Inhibin level and is the Inhibin A test reliable?

I am getting a 2nd opinion regarding having chemo or not.  I am reading mixed opinions on this matter, it does not seem to help this type of cancer?  Does anyone have any input?

Thank you!

Patti

I went through the same thing in May of 2005.

Because of the inhibin test just this month I had a second surgery which in fact did prove to be  that  the Granulosa Cell cancer had returned.

Starting next month I will start radiation treatment in the area where this was found. The Inhibin B test is the one that sent up the red flag because the Granulosa cell cancer produces estrogen and the level usually starts to climb.I have read about the Chemo treatment and it seems like you have a 50/50 on that.I wish I could tell you more but the really important things to do are make sure you get a ct every 6 months and blood work every 3 months and if it shoud come back they are going to catch it fast.

Take care of yourself,

Sharon
