Hi all,
I have just been diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma. Any information you can give me would be great. The Dr told me I would have a open partial nephrectomy. My surgery has not been schelued yet, but I have an appointment with anthes. May 6, to set everything up. I am very nervous, but try not to think much about it, which is hard to do. It is only a 2.8cm leasion.
Thanks

Ask your Doc about RF Ablation. I had a Rad Neph for an 8cm tumor in my left kidney last April (that sucked, it was 4 weeks before I could play golf). This April I won the RCC lottery again (that sucked also) with a 2.4 in my right kidney. After pissing off (excuse the French) the Urologist, apparently they think RFA is voodoo or something, we found a Doc who does the procedure. If it can be avoided, I will NEVER be cut again. Here is the down and dirty...went into pre-op at 6 AM (April 7), put under at 11:30, out of recovery at 4 pm, walking around the hospital at 5:30 pm, off the morphine pump (only hit twice) at 8:30 pm, went home and worked on my Jeep the next day, played golf 3 days later. Back to work in Iraq April 25. Still a little uncomfortable but nothing unbearable.
The quickest way to fight this AND recover is 3 simple steps: ATTITUDE, ATTITUDE and ATTITUDE. You are only as sick as you let yourself be.
NEVER give up and NEVER quit living.
Good luck and God Bless.
