Hi everyone -
I just had the LEEP procedure performed just a little while ago due to Severe Dysplasia diagnosed by my doctor from my Colposcopy a few weeks ago. Luckily I had two friends who had the procedure done in recent years so I was pretty prepared as to what to expect (including all of my online research).
Everything I read said the procedure would take between 20-30 minutes. Does that mean from the start of walking into the room until you are finished and dressed or is that how long the actual LEEP work should last?
I was called back at 3:45pm and went to the restroom. From there, I went into the room...undressed...doctor came in...you know the rest. I was back up and dressed by 4pm and walking out the door...so 15 minutes from the start of walking back to walking out and leaving...
Is it possible that I just had a couple of small areas of severe dysplasia so that was the reason for the quickness, or should I be concerned that my doctor didn't do a "thorough" job of getting all of the abnormal cells?
I mentioned to him that it was much faster than I expected and he said "yep, we're quick here..."
Anyone have any thoughts? He's supposed to be a great doctor, but I was just a little worried. Has anyone else had a LEEP procedure this quick?
Thanks in advance!
Melissa
