I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. My mother died of Pancreatic Cancer about 10 years ago. At that time, she was in-operable. What the doctors recommended was radiation treatments. The treatments would not cure her cancer but would help with the pain. She did fine with the treatments. She only had one day (half the way through) that she didn't feel like getting dressed. (I think she had 15 treatments) She never got sick or lost her hair.
The doctors said they could do a nerve block if the pain gets too bad. She lived a good active year. Every 3 months she need a stent replaced. In the end, she was in need of a replacement but couldn't have it because she had congestive heart failure.
My brother (58) was diagnosed with this same cancer in March. He had surgery and they removed his entire pancreas, spleen, gall bladder, and douodum (not sure of the spelling). Anyways, he is doing pretty good.
What has me scared is this cancer runs in families. I'm trying to find out if there is some way to screen for earily detection.
They have come a long way with surgery & treaments since my mom. Go see him as soon as you can...time is precious.
I wish you and your family peace....
Sue
