yesterday, may 14, my grand father (71 years old) was brought to hospital for general check up just to know the cause why he is suffering from paralysis and then today my mom texted me that my grandfather has a stage four lung cancer ( i don't know what type it is). I was shocked after i read the text because no signs at all we thought it was a stroke. Before my grandfather was complaining for his stomach ache so i believe it might be his ulcer or a sign of prostate cancer, after that he can no longer stand the pain we rush him to the hospital and the doctor says it was an amoebiasis then after a month he undergo to endoscopy procedure just to see why he suffer from frequent stomach pain. The result was clear and just a small enlargement of the prostate was diagnosed. weeks later my mom told me that my grandfather often loses memory or some sort of memory lost and his hands is shaking. and if he hold on something he wont let it go anymore until you get it from him. worst happen he can not walk anymore and he was paralyse. before i left the hospital yesterday the doctor says he found a mass on his lungs and he was referred to a pulmonologist. i guess he undergo CT scan in chest and brain at that day.
My grandfather doesnt know his case. we avoid it because he often cry and says he going to die that he is really sick so i told my mom not to tell it to anybody especially him and my grandmother to avoid some psychological torture to them. I know it is hard for our family to see my grandfather sick most especially to my grandmother. We lack for financial matter and my grandfather is getting weak so chemo is not advisable. we all leave it to god. who knows a great miracle might happen. my only concern is how can i lessen the pain for my grand father. how can i cheer him up in his condition. i guess that the only thing thats i can do for him. i pretend to be happy everytime i feed him. i ask what he needs what food he like to eat. i feel hopeless. i hope anyone can help me.
Your presence is the most important gift you can give. Next, I reccomend gentle massage with lotion on neck, shoulders , arms & hands. Touch is very comforting. Also, soft worship music that ushers in the presence of the Lord Jesus will help him relax. As you say, if it is his time to go to the next life, you want him to go in peace and as little suffering as possible. Keep trusting God no matter what happens because we often don't know at the time what inner miracles are happening all around us. This life is over so quickly but eternity never ends so focus on preparing his heart and yours to meet the Father of LIfe. God be with you and hold you gently in His arms until these calamities are past. Kathy
