I have been dealing with cervical issues for years. On and off bad paps. Two and a half years ago (March 03) I had a another bad pap when I was 6 weeks pregnant. I was referred to another gyn and had colposcopies with biopsies every three months throughout my pregnancy. They gradually kept getting worse until it came back as carcinoma in situ stage 0. I had a LEEP done in January 05 and was told this would take care of everything. The pathology report came back with clear margins.
I had a follow up pap in April 05 and that was normal. I was so relieved. That is until I received the call today that my next three month pap from last week came back showing mild A-typical cells again (this is how I started out before.)
I'm 33 and have four child. I'm done having babies and refuse to have another LEEP. I had the LEEP done in the office and the procedure itself wasn't bad but the cervical block was AWFUL. I thought I was dying of a heart attack and I'm not going through that again.
So, I guess my questions are: What would be the next step to fixing these abnormal cells before they turned to cancer again? Would a hysterectomy correct the problem (do the remove your cevix?)
I'm at my wits end. I've been in stir ups every three months for 2.5 years and I just want to put this ordeal behind me. I want to find the permanent solution, which obviously wasn't the LEEP.
Any advice?
