Hi,
My mum has been diagnosed with lung cancer 18months ago, and she has been on the tarceva drug for 10months so far. Her health was really good at the start of the trial of tarceva, however she did have the rash but it slowly disappeared. She is now 18months down the line, and the doctors predicited that she would be with us for only 18months, and they have been right.
We have tried to beat the statistics but it is looking very unlikely now. My mum is 52years old, and has never smoked. About 10days ago my mother was really ill and kept vomitting non stop for about 5 days, we then called a doctor to check up on her and they said she has to go to the hospital as shes really ill. We thought she was getting better, but when she was vomitting the tarceva was coming out with it, therefore it stopped working for her. This meant that she was in severe pain, as all the medication she was taking was not going into her body but was just exiting.
She then got sent to the hospice for some care, and after a week she then was told she has fluid in her lungs. This happened last year aswell so we already knew what to expect. She then got transferred to the hospital for it to get removed, and now shes back at the hospice.
The doctors did a full examination on her, and we were then given the news that we didnt want to hear. They told us that she has days or just weeks left to live. So we just got to expect the worse.
I dont know what im going to do without her im only 20, my birthdays in a months time alongside my twins, and we really want her to be alive for it.
Im really scared, but at the same time trying to stay strong.
Has anyone got any advice they can share with me, as i need support from similar patients or care givers.
Thank you.
