Well, we now know my mom is stage 4. The Cancer has spread to her liver and lymph nodes. Two days ago she had a port surgically placed for the chemo, and she will also be receiving radiation. She has lost a lot of weight and I am worried that she will not make it through theses treatments. Mom has decided to follow her doctor's orders, and is not interested in second opinions, clinical trials, or anything else, so we are not pushing her. Can someone please tell me what to expect, and how long she can continue with stage 4? I do not want to ask the doctors in front of her, and she has not asked either. We are so worried and upset over this. Our mom is a wonderful beautiful woman and we love her so much.
I feel so sorry for you, your family and your mum. It is a truly wicked disease, I know as I lost my own mum one week ago today so the feelings are still pretty raw for me at the moment.
I hope and pray for all your sakes that your dear mother is granted more time than mine was...obviously different people will survive for longer or shorter times than others, but my mum was diagnosed as stage 4 in March and lived for just three short months.
Try to be strong for her...my heart goes out to you because I know what you are going to be going through in the coming weeks.
It is only a small consolation I know, but your mum, just as mine is now, will be in a better place...free of pain and suffering,..that wont stop your heart from breaking as mine is now...but I pray you will find the strength to cope with what is going to be the most difficult time of your life.
