My wife was given whole brain radiation, which didn't stop the mets from growing, later got targeted radiation, which has done better.
Online I read (in the Merck Manual) that severe dementia (like Alzheimers) is a typical side effect, (50% at 1 year, 70% at 2 years)
However, our radiation oncologist says dementia is uncomon and not to worry about it. Has anyone had any experience with side effects from whole brain radiation?
Also my wife is walking slower and slower and complains of weakness in her legs. She prefers to hold my arm as we walk for stability. Is this due to the whole brain radiation too?
