I am newly diagnosed as well. For me I have now had 5 biopsies, 1 is MEL 1b, 1 is Mel in situ, 1 is ok, 2 don't yet have results.
Those of us with MEL and lots of moles have an increased chance of additional MEL. At first I was really worried this was an indication of spread, my DR says not. However, we are removing anything questionable at this point.
I am going to the UCSF MEL ctr on 9/15 to better understand the next steps.
Please update us on the results of your additional biopsies.
