Ok, I get a little graphic in this message so I hope I don't disgust you. If so, don't read this message. I just need to know if any of you have this problem after surgery.
I had esophagectomy 18 months ago and I start to wonder if I might suffer from gastroparesis. I've read that surgery on the esophagus/stomach/vagus-nerve can have gastroparesis as a side-effect.
I've had trouble eating since surgery, I had a jejunum-tube for 9 months after sugery. Now I've been eating per oral for 9 months. But I've lost 3 kg (6.6 lb) since, although I eat as often as I can. Sometimes the digestive system works pretty OK, but sometimes, like now, it doesn't seem to work very good. I don't have appetite but I eat anyway, but afterwards I feel like I've swallowed a stone or something. There's a discomfort in my upper stomach. It gets better after a while but when I eat it starts again. During these periods of time, which can last for 5-6 weeks, I also get much reflux and some vomiting after meals.
However, the reason I wonder if this is gastroparesis is because I throw up small pieces of foods that are hard to digest, several hours after I've eaten. For example, this monday I had a teaspoon of chopped chives at dinner. The next morning, 20 hours later, I felt sick after breakfast (as I often do) and threw up some gastric juice and - some pieces of chives.
The next morning, 44 hours later, same story, threw up som gastric juice and - a piece of chives... embedded in a small lump this time. That's not normal, is it?
I did an X-ray a couple of months ago and it didn't show any blocks or narrowings in the digestive system. Anyone experienced this? Thanx for any advice!
