I'm so glad you're taking charge, this way! It's not fun to wait, but getting copies of your lab reports will help you so much. It will be your first proactive step in doing what is best for your body and your comfort level. You can even fax the lab reports to the office of your new doctor so that he or she will get the records as soon as possible.
I wanted to add that a new doctor will make room for you if it's urgent. My new doctor certainly did. I learned my first doctor was planning to do a cone biopsy while I was under general anesthesia without telling me and without getting my permission. The assistant let it slip the day before the surgery. I fired that doctor after she refused to tell me why she was going to remove so much. The new doctor made an office appointment for me, for the next week. I didn't even need anything that extreme! (I have seen the lab report, since then, and it still makes me shudder at what almost happened to me.) She's probably still sticking pins into a voodoo doll with my name on it because I notified the director of her clinic about this.
