And the saga continues! I called the Dr. this morning at 11am as I couldn't wait to hear any longer. I was transferred to the Nurse's voicemail where I pleaded yet again for the results they had since yesterday. About 1.5 hrs later the Nurse called back to say that she told the Dr I called today (and yesterday), and that she would remind him to call me today. By this time I'm convinced that it is going to be terrible news.
Well he finally calls me at 1:45 to tell me he has some puzzling, and slightly troubling results. He sais the path report on the colp for came back COMPLETELY NORMAL. not CIN 1, not even abnormal but totally normal. He said he made sure to sample tissue from the most abnormal part of the cervix.
He said this is concerning as it isn't what the Paps said. He said either that meant by body was clearing it out OR that the biopsy wasn't helpful as he couldn't get to the diseased tissue with the colp (though I wonder how he got to it with the Pap). His thought was that we do another PAP in 2 months and if the results were still CIN 1 to do a Cone to remove all the material that looked abnormal. I asked why such a radical procedure given the results of the colp and he said to make sure we get it all. I also asked if he had ever seen a complete reverasl in one month since a CIN pap and he said yes.
I think I should be happy (whew!) but why would I still need a cone? I told him I'm getting a second opinion because this latest news is so weird I hadn't even thought of this scenerio. He said he'd be happy for me to get a second opinion.
BTW, I've been taking my vitamins since last week and I've said a ton of prayer. I'll keep everyone updated on the second opinion I get when I visit the GYN oncology group the 13th of August.
I can't thank everyone enough for all of the postings and support. I'm supposed to get my chart tomorrow and I'm sure I'll need some help reading the results and will come here for that!
