My fathers was diagnosed with NSCLC stage IV over a year ago and has been through two rounds of chemo and radiation. He tried taking Tarceva on and off for a just over a month but decided to stop it as he lost his appetite, was sick & lost a lot of weight and felt weaker than ever. He is now back doing a different therapy with less side effects. However, after reading all these positive postings written by people taking Tarceva and what it has done for them, i can't stop thinking that perhaps my dad would be better off taking it too. He just needs convincing and proof that it is more than just a pill.He is weaker than ever now and can't even stand up.- He still wants his cigarette though!!!!
If there is anyone who has been taking Tarceva and has seen "miracles" happen, could find some time to post a message for me to show my dad so he sees that he can't give up. Please help....
Dear Marje,
I was diagnosed with NSCLC stage IV in January 2008. I'm 43 years old, healthy, never smoked, it was a complete shock to us. I was immediately put on Tarceva and in just over 3 months the cancer is almost gone. I was very tired at first, but then it got better. I have 2 children (ages 4 and 8) annd I'm perfectly able to take care of them and do my daily tasks. It has the side effects (rash - I had hair loss) but they are bearable. Please let me know if you have any questions about Tarceva - I've been on it now for 6 months and I feel really well. I wish well for your father.
