New User Have Et

Subject: new user have et
Date: 07/18/2008

Hi

I am new to this messageboard and have had ET diagnosed since Feb this year 2008.  Platelets have been hovering around 800k and so far have been only on 100mg aspirin daily.   For the past six weeks I have been extremely fatigued and just feel the need to sleep all the time.  I have 2 young kids and work evenings, so admitedly lack good quantity of sleep but nap asand when I can especially weekends when my husband kindly takes over.  He is as am I shocked at my sudden turnaround and my hematologist thinks I am mad I think.  Done a whole new round of tests for nasties, all normal.  Am going for a second CT scan this week and he wrote me a script for HU I think just to shut me up, though he has always said being my age I should not go on treatment unless platelets over 1m or have bleeding episode.   Is extreme fatigue and need for sleep all the time nor and is wantingto live life like normal as before expecting too much??

My hem thinks it is not ET related and that it is either something secondary or that I need to see a sleep analyst??  Though as I say he has told me to start on hydrea in case the reduction of platets this should cause may help also reduce the fatigue??   I am so confused by this disease and look forward to hearing from any others of you who have had similar experiences.

Thanks

Rochelle (Australia)
