My husband is recovering from surgery only 1 month ago. Can anyone provide information on a suitable diet for the long term ? Are there certain foods he should never eat ?to always avoid ?

Sonnyswife,

I am assuming by surgery you mean an esophagectomy. What procedure was used? In any case, from my own experience and reading posts from a lot of people on this board, I've learned that everyone is different. At one month post-surgery it is still very early. At this point experiment with anything, in small amounts, that can be tolerated and provides nutrients. In the long term I have found that, and this is only my experience, I can eat anything without trouble. I can't eat as much as before and that is not really a bad thing. Some people find they cannot eat and digest certain foods. I never saw a reason why that is.

I hope you and Sonny (?) do well. Tell Sonny "Hello".

Good Luck and KEEP MOVING,

Steve
