I must say, I do think he should force his docs to be a lot less 'disinterested'!!!  That doesn't sound very good of them. Now, it could be that, if they are oncologists, and 'only' (!) concerned about the cancer, they are not that fussed about side effects.

I wonder whether the drug company itself would be more helpful, as they, of course, have a vested interest in maximising the overall success of the drugs.

I didn't realise, I must say, that ibuprufen 'encouraged' bleeding - I know aspirin does. What about paracetomol? I'm not sure what other 'general painkillers' there are around, apart from heading into opiate territory (codeine etc) and that may be far too much for something like this.

May be the best is to consult a palliative care expert, rather than an oncologist? Nurses, too, often are very good at all the 'patient management' issues, far more than the docs.

Al the best - Julie

Hi Julie

Thank you for the reply.

I did meam stage   iv and I cannot get the internist here to pay attention to any of my complaints, I have no oncologist so I try to see what my family Dr says, He is very nice but does not know cancer, My abdomen is becoming enlarged, It is quite distended .I am 64 years old and do not like looking like I am 6 months pregnant.Has anyone with rcc had a distended abdomen ? Need help

I live in an area that does not have very caring medical staff,

Carol

Hi! Carol , I think you should contact MD Anderson in Houston Tx. I have heard they will treat cancer patients for free if they qualify. It would be worth a phone call. Wish you the Best  John
