In a study conducted by the University of California and published
in The American Journal of Industrial Medicine, it was found that hairdressers
had four times the rate of multiple myeloma. The substances in this study included hair dyes, shampoos,
hair conditioners, relaxers, and permanent wave solutions.
My
wife had her own house painting business many years ago and worked with
many toxic paints and solvents. I've always thought that there might be
a link between those chemicals and her later development of myeloma.
