False Positive Pet Scans

Subject: false positive pet scans
Date: 10/10/2008
On 7/25/2008 I had a resection of squamous cell carcinoma of
the scalp and a cervical lymph node biopsy. No residual tumor
was seen and the lymph node was negative for tumor.
On 10/10/08 I had a PET scan which showed a "hot" spot in
the area of the lymph node biopsy. Everything else was negative.
Could the abnormality on the PET scan be secondary to the lymph
node excision 11 weeks ago?
