hi Leah,
i just had to write to you and tell you how sorry i am to hear about your mom. i understand how frustrating it can be for people when they feel that more could have been done. one of my doctor's also missed the lump in my breast just six weeks before i found it. fortunately, i pushed to have an ultrasound and found out that my lump was cancerous and within just a few weeks i had surgery to remove it. i also had chemo for 4 months, and finished with 5 weeks of radiation. that all started in feb. 2004. we really need to be our own advocates and your mom also has you on her side, which will help. i am glad you are reaching out for help and support and you seem relieved to have found this group, but i can recommend a group particularly for breast cancer that you will surely find invaluable. i know they were the BEST when i needed it the most! i hope no one else takes offense, i just think that sometimes it is nice to have a more targeted group available also. the group is called FIT, which stands for Friends in Touch, and you can go to their website by using this address
http://groups.msn.com/FriendsInTouchCareTeam
I have said a prayer for you and your mom, and your family.
take care,
