I recently posted a message about my sister have a rare cancer called URACHAL.... a rare form of bladder cancer. she was sent home mid Oct. by doctors who said there is nothing more they can do for her, but keep her comfortable. Well Cancer Treatment Centers of America seems to disagree, however they feel that 40% of patients that are on HOSPICE don't belong on it. After submitting my sisters insurance to see if she can come into CTCA for consultation, it turns out that her insurance is not accepted at their facility. After extensive conversations with oncologist specialists at CTCA, I have to hear that they can't see my sister unless I have $25,000 off the bat. HA, go figure..
Now her doctor tells us that jaundice is setting in.. Is this the next stage to where it is spreading into the liver? Someone clue me in?
I thought that doctors took an Oath to treat patients "DO KNOW HARM", and when you hear something so bizarre as we need Cash up front, where is "we want to make a difference in someones life" fit in here?
Some of you might think I sound a little bitter, by all means I am not, its just that I know that there are doctors out there with the knowledge its just that we don't know where you are and when we find you its too late or when we here of a survival story of someone in the same situation we often wonder why not us....
Someone please give me some feedback on this..
Andrea
