My daughter was diagnosed in July with a large 22cm mass on the right ovary. Surgery was performed by a gynecological oncologist. Tumor was mucinous, extensively malignant but was removed intact. Gutter washings came back negative. We were given three choices, Hysterectomy, 6 courses of chemotherapy or close monitoring. My 30 yr. old daughter chose close monitoring. Twice since the surgery CAT Scans have shown cysts on the remaining ovary. The first ultrasound showed the cyst was gone, but another one was starting to grow. She has just had another CAT Scan which showed another Cyst. She is scheduled for Transvaginal Ultra sound to investigate the new cyst. It has only been 5 months since the surgery. At this point, I wonder if we made the right choice and I worry if we should have had the chemo or hysterectomy. I feel like we are just waiting for the other shoe to drop. My daughter is a very positive person with a great attitude toward the situation, and I don't want to be like the "gloom and doom" person in her life..but I want to do everything I can to make sure she lives to enjoy it.
