It was nice to find this and read about people's experiences. I am on day 7 and so far, so good. I'm wondering why some of you get to skip out after three weeks, and I was told to go the whole 4 weeks. In the past, I've done a regimen of the 2% Carac, but this is the 5% Efudex, so I'm guessing I'll be more messed up than ever before. Like another poster, I had Mohs 3 months ago, and I waited for the graft to heal before starting this process. I was under threat of having other things moved in other ways. I opted to go with the Efudex because I know that after the hideous treatment phase, things are better for awhile. I DO NOT want to go under the knife/scalpel again. I DO NOT want a graft taken off my ear to put on my nose (it exposed cartilage, which is painful).
I was also wondering about those of you who were able to get prescriptions for codeine and/or ambien (sleeping pill). I am terrified that I will be in pain and not be able to talk my doc into helping. I get sick of docs telling me to just take ibuprofen for things that are keeping me from being able to participate in normal life. I'm quite fine so far, but let me know what worked for you. I appreciate all of the comments about the vaseline, aquaphor, etc. I hadn't tried those in past treatments. Thanks.
