Well, I finished applying Efudex three days ago after 24 days, 2X per day. I thought the worst was over, and it probably was. No more scalding pain as you apply the cream to hypersenstive skin. However, now my face is drying up like porcelain with raw nerve endings...I apply Aquaphor continually, which soothes it, but I look greasy and red as a boiled lobster.
Washing my cheeks and shaving still are painful, and my cheeks, jowls, and nose/lip area are so chapped they always burn. This makes sleeping almost impossible. I hope tonight will be better.
Some of my skin at least is starting to scale off, which I hope is a good sign. I think my side effects must be worse than some people's...I had to work out in a farm field for the last two days, and will for the next four, so keep getting sun and chapped. Probably staying inside would make this better.
My doctor also prescribed Bionex to put on twice per day to speed healing. A $50 prescription for me with denial care insurance. Feels good for about two minutes as it is going on, but no sign that bionex has helped yet, but no "control" to compare to...just the human torch.
I'll post a cheerful note as soon as I can find cause to do so!
