Hiya everyone, Im new to this site so please bear with me, lol.
My husband was diagnosed with lung cancer on the 13th of July last year and started chemo on the 9th August, they had to do test first befor they started him on it. It help and it went but the tumor had left a lining around the lung and near his lymphenodes.
So he was given radio therapy to get rid of it, but the radio therapy made matters worse and the tumor had come back but this time it wasn't just in his lung it was also in his lymphenodes.
The doctors told him they will try him on another does of chemo but a stronger one than last time, so he started the chemo therapy on the 20th June this year.
They also told him that if the chemo doesn't work or if he gets really poorly from the treatment then they will just stop and there is nothing they can do.
They also told him that the chemo wont cure the matter it will just pro-long things. So we asked if they have to stop the treatment how long will he have left and they told us a few months.
He was rushed to hospital about 3 weeks ago with a high temperature and chest pains, and as you will no if there temperature is above 38c or above 37.5c at any two readings, taken an hour or more apart they need to get to the hospital straight away. So i phoned an ambulance and he was rushed into Canterbury Hospital were he was given loads of tests, and was told hes got a really bad chest infection and they are going to give him a drip with some antibiotics in for about an hour then he can go home.
When they came back with the antibiotics he asked if it had penicillin in it as hes allergic to it and the sister said only a little but you should be alright and be for we could say anything she had put it in him, With in seconds he was having a fit, hes tongue swelled up, hes head kept fallen back. hes eyes kept rolling back, he was shaking, being sick, hes lips went blue, hes hands, feet and legs swelled up too. I was pushed out of the way and they had to call for a crash team, they even had to cut hes clothes off. Thanks to that stupid bl***y b***h he was in hospital for 4 days, he couldn't walk for about 3 days all he did was sleep, went completely of food and was only just drinking enough.
It was so scary, at one point i thought i had lost him.
He told the hospital by the 3rd day that he needs to be out by the weekend cos hes getting married on the Monday, and thank god he was well enough to come home and be home in time for our wedding.
Its left him very scared of hospitals now and when he has to go in for hes treatment he gets really worried.
Hes got one more lot of chemo left be for they do test to see how the treatment is working so we have got our fingers crossed.
People say to me they are so surprised at how well I'm coping with it all and that they all thought i was going to leave him when we first found out as i was only 19 , but its like Ive said when you love someone sooo much you would do anything on this earth for them no matter what it is.

Hes pretty porly today as his temperature is a bit high.

Please if there is anyone who can help me understand things a bit better i would really appreciate it.

Thnx
xx
