Five weeks ago my mother who is 80 years old(had breast cancer 13 years ago had masectomy on tomoxifen for 13years also no chemo or radiation then very healthy otherwise she is very thin but always has been) went in for her regular 6 month gyne visit. while the doctor was examining her she felt a swelling on the lower right side of her abdomen. Her doctor had her regular doctor examine her he sent her for ultra sound(which was about a week later) and the ultra showed enlarged liver with a mass.Doctor then took blood tests(which showed nothing) and then sent her for a cat scan which was another week later. That didn't show anything more than what we already knew so now she had to go for a biospy of the liver with cat scan. The results took another week and today she was told it don't look good you have cancer. Except now the doctor don't know where its coming from.So now she has to go for a colonscopy to see if its there and if that don't show anything she will have to go for a pet scan.Doctor told us to make appointment for colonoscopy my poor mother has been waiting 5 almost 6 weeks for this diagnosis I think its to long.My sister said please put her in hospital and give her the test. Doctor only then said ok if she didn't push she be waiting another 2 weeks for the test and another for results in the mean time the cancer could be spreading.Shes also to see an oncologist. Can somebody let me know if this is just a normal process. Does it really take a week to find out results of a biospy espcially if its cancer. Not to mention all the other tests she had before she got to that point.
Desperate to help my mom
