Hi. I've spent the morning reading the posts on this site and have found them to be both helpful and supportive.

On 9/14/06 my 65 y/o husband Ray was diagnosed with Stage IV Adenocardenoma of the stomach with mets to several spinal locations, right adrendal gland and several lymph nodes in the stomach. Complicating things, the mets cancer to the spine deteriorated the C2 to the point it has fractured. Ray underwent 9 radiation treatments to the C2. These treatments made him really nauseous. He rested a week from radiation and began chemo last Monday. Every 21 days he will be infused with Cisplatin and Epirubicin. He also wears an infusion pump with 5 Fluorouracil M-F. These treatments have intensified the nausea. Ray basically hasn't eaten since the diagnosis began, and especially the radiation and chemo treatments started. He has lost 25 lbs in 5 weeks and is extremely weak, to the point it is challenging simply to get him to the bathroom. The drs have him on Zofran and Phenergan (both tablets & suppositories). Home nurse came yesterday & today for IV fluids, IV Zofran and IV steroids to help alleviate the nausea. Nothing seems to help very much. I think it's time for the hospital so they can give IV nutrients and find something that will alleviate the nausea. He can't go on like this for long. The dr has already said that he doesn't think he will restart the chemo on Monday and is looking at adjusting the dosage. Has anyone else experienced this level of nausea and total inability to keep food down or even very little fluids? The drs want to put him in a halo brace for the fractured C2. Right now he is in a Minerva brace or cervical collar. I'm afraid he is too weak to undergo the surgery for a halo and would then have much difficulty with the extra weight and balance issues of a halo. Any thoughts? I feel so helpless while watching him go through this. Thanks for any help.
