Can anyone tell me a rationale for someone of about 60 years old with stage 3 stomach cancer not wanting to have treatment. She would rather just receive pain medication as necessary. I am assuming it is because she knows the ramifications of chemo, radiation, the progression of the disease but was wondering if there could be other reasons? This is the wife of a dear friend and he is feeling very badly that she doesn't want any treatment.
