I would like to know if anyone has, or knows anyone who has, non-small cell lung cancer with metastases to the brain who has survived a year or more. It will be a year the first of December when my 48 yr. old son had a large tumor removed from his brain and radiation on others. He has only had one round of 4 chemo infusions, several months ago. I was told the average length of survival is 8 months but my son is still doing pretty well, able to drive and even work on his old truck. He recently had radiation on his lung tumor, which had not been done before, and whole head radiation to his brain after some new tumors appeared in the brain. He had begun to have some arm seizures but steroids stopped that, so far. He will have an MRI and cat scan in a couple of weeks to see if the radiation helped. He feels pretty good most days, eats enough and looks for things to keep him busy, though he has had a lot of trouble with his feet. I recently got him some IP-6 and he takes vitamins. I read from message boards where this really helped. I am hoping and praying he will feel, at least relatively, good through the winter. He has had weeks of not feeling like leaving his room and his feet swelling so that he couldn't even get socks on them, though they are better. Just wondering if anyone has survived longer than a year. I'll only pass on to my son any good news, if any, and I know that probability is slim. (He is divorced and lives with me). Thanks, Peggy
