I am so glad to have found this site, and this discussion. Last week I went to a dermatologist for a few different things, one of which was a suspicious patch on my right inner arm above my elbow. I'm not sure how long it has been there, but I know I noticed it this summer and kept saying to myself that I should get it checked. The doctor did a biopsy at my visit, but I am not sure what kind. She called Thursday afternoon to tell me it was melanoma and that I would be scheduled as soon as possible for surgery to further remove it and a margin of tissue around it. I guess this is for staging. All I know of now is that it is a superficial spreading melanoma. After reading about melanoma, I really freaked out, along with my husband. The surgery is Friday, and I am very scared about what it might reveal, but I am also trying to remain hopeful and keep things in perspective. We have read alot and are coming up with questions for the doctor. My husband is insistent that I have the lymph node biopsy done. He's been very attentive toward me and I can see by the look in his eyes that he is scared to death of losing me. I'm 37 and he is 36. I hope you all have gotten good results on your tests, and thanks for listening.
