I had a 'whipple' done in Sept. 2004. they were unable to connect the small intestine to the pancreas. I have been doing well except for "dumping syndorome", abdominal distention from excessive gas formation and diarrhea. Interested in nutritional recommendations and number of meals to help control this.

are you on pancreatic enzyme replacement?  I also would suggest you stay away from dairy (milk, cheese, yougurt, etc), eat foods low on the glycemic index and stay away from wheat unless you know for sure you have no inflamatory reaction to it (most people don't realize they have a negative reaction in digesting wheat).  Eat a diet low in "inflammaory" foods (like beef & pork).  Cold water fish (salmon & sardines) should be consumed at least 2-3 times per week as well as 8-10 servings of vegetables & fruits.  I stay away from anything with sugar (fructose, sucralose, dextrose, etc.)  No additives or preservatives (that means no "fake" sugars, hydrogenated oils, dyes, or any chemical) and no fast foods.

It took a long time to be able to decipher labels and relearn how to cook without the starchy stuff I was used to.  But in the long run it was well worth it.
