My border collie cross was diagnoised about two months ago just by a special x-ray which showed a big tumour that came up from the uretha, the vet had trouble getting the canula into Tango's bladder due to the tumor.
And yet despite being almost 12 (a month away) and only having Metocam and lots of love she seems ok.
She is eating for England and is generally ok, sometimes I think that they have misdiagnoised her.
Her urine is very red though and I suppose they know what they are saying.
Initially the vet didnt seem to think she would last very long, but I havent taken her back yet, have just got repeat medication.
I dont want to hold out false hope, but does anyone know roughly how long I can expect to have her?
As I said it is two months she was diagnosed.
My dog Bandit was just diagnosed last week. She is going to be 15 on Feb 12th. I'm sorry I don't know the progression but I know what I was told to look for. My dog's mass is very large but it is not fully blocking her urine flow. Once that occurs I was told that would be it for her, unless I have a tube put in to eliminate her urine through a tube. My dog has been acting pretty good, but her blood work kept coming back with very elevated liver enzymes. My dog can only squirt a small stream of urine now. She has been doing this squirting thing since the summer but I didn't know that it was bad. Especially since she has been playful and mostly happy. She started with bloody diarhea the first week of January and thats when I started looking into things again. The piroxicam is the medication given to me by Cornell. This is suppose to stunt the mass and it is also an anti inflammatory to hopefully make the swelling lessen and make it easier for her to urninate. Depending on how well this works she may get longer than a couple of months. Once her urine flow lessens and maybe droplets occurs then I was told I need to put her to sleep. I was told that blood or brown urine would also be something to watch out for. I'm not sure what it means but I don't think that is a good sign. Today my dog is not acting well. Just sleeping and wasn't interested in eating. I am boiling chicken and white rice to help her and because she had the diarhea. Can you tell me more about the vitamins and holistic things?? I'm looking for something to do. I just want her to be comfortable and when she was at Cornell last week there was not signs of her being in pain. I would never want her to suffer.
