From my husband"s experience (he had melanoma in situ removed also), He never had anything but skin checks also, but wished they had checked his lymph nodes anyway. Because this is the way it seems to spread----the nearest lymph node and then other closest organs. By that time it is stage 4---too late. Even CT Scans every year would have found that his had spread----maybe he would have had more time. I pray this helps you. Be aggressive even 2, 3, or 4 years later.
