Disposal Of Excess Prescription

Subject: disposal of excess prescription
Date: 01/23/2007
My Mother was diagnosed 6 or so months ago with a brain tumor and was prescribed Timodar along with radiation. After 3 days of treatment we elected to discontinue due to the side effects. To make a long story short we have a three months supply of Timodar(100 mg, 60 in each bottle) in sealed bottles that my Dad refuses to throw out, which is what the doctors have told him to do. After I saw the retail price and him being a depression baby I can understand. The prescription was covered under their insurance and cost 35 bucks. Is there an organization that these can be donated to that could "give"  this out to a needy patient? Seems a shame(more like insanity) to throw out $10k plus worth of possibly life saving medication. You wonder why health care is so expensive!(well maybe not)  chris
