just found out of tumor

I was in hospital for a colostomy when they noticed on my CT Scan that i had a tumor on my adrenal gland. Once i recover from the colostomy surgery the doctor wants me to go back into surgery to remove this tumor.Has anyone been diagnosed with a tumor? How do they know if it is malignant? The doctor told me they don't know until they take it out but even if it is not cancer they still need to take it out...What would happen if i did not get it taken out? Anyone run into this?

Does Adrenal cancer = neuroblastoma???

Hi all --I was contacted today by a mom with a 3 yr old daughter with neuroblastoma of the adrenal gland. Is this the same as adrenal gland cancer? If so, do you have any tips which might help this mom in coping with this journey?? The child is currently having massive doses of chemo which do seem to be having some effect. Is there a 'measurement' which tells one just how well (or not) one is coping with the treatment? Any help gratefully appreciated. Thanks in advance, Cath

Was Wondering about Adrenal Mass ?

I have a friend that has gone to an Urologist for a bladder problem was told after test she does not have bladder cancer but at the base of the bladder she has a small obstruction. So he ordered a CT scan of the abdomen. Long story short..the Urologist told her after her CT if they had seen anyting out of the norm they would have informed him. Now 2 weeks later her internal Doctor`s office called an said that they had just gotten the report back an that she has an abnormal mass on her adrenal gland an that she needs to have an MRI . Does anyone know what this could mean or has anyone had anything similiar to this ? Does the adrenal gland mass have anything to do with the kidneys ability to restrict the flow of urine or decrease it. Any information will greatly appreciated. God Bless Everyone :)

some info

My husband had lung cancer a year back. They removed part of his lung. His first checkup 6 months ago was clean. The other day at his next checkup they said they saw a tumor on his Adrenal Gland. He said with the dye they can tell whether it is cancer or benign. He said it was cancer and they are going to do a brain MRI first and rule out that. Then they are going to discuss a treatment. He was told no surgery! Does anyone out there have a similar story and could help us.!?

Post surgery news, Info would be helpful

Hello,My children's dad just had a 13cm tumor removed from his adrenal gland, along with his adrenal. He was first diagnosed with RCC, but after surgery we were informed that it is not in his kidney but his adrenal gland. With the fact that adrenal gland cancer is so rare, is it more likely that the primary sight is somewhere else yet to be found and it has spread to his adrenal gland? I have not read any encouraging in regards to adrenal gland cancer and would love it if any one could give be their opinion while we wait another week for pathology results. THanks so much!!Christy

Found 2 tumors on adrenal glands

Hi! My mother is awaiting her blood work-up results from MD Anderson Cancer Center. The doctors found 2 benign tumors on her ovaries 6 months ago that she had removed. Whenever they did all the CT's for that, they saw these. Now, we are facing to see if these just happen to be benign too. She looks and feels great. She is gaining all her weight back. I have learned that adrenal carcinoma is very rare. We are just so scared. We all just lost my dad to cancer 5 months ago. His battle lasted very briefly. Help, anyone out there...... have you been here or where my mom is?

hello I'm 45 years old and have been dealing with metastic pheochromocytoma since 2001. In 2001 I had a adrenalectomy, in 2005 July again they tryed to resect it,and again same year in October the same thing. In December 2006 I had a radical neck disection and thoracotomy. The nodes in my neck were positive for the pheo but my chest was clear. In July of the same year I had a retro peritoneal dissection done with positive tissue also. Again there is not much info out there regarding this type of cancer. The only way they seem to be able to pin point it is with a pet scan. We live in Nova Scotia (Canada)and the closest place for us to get this scan is in Sherbrooke, Quebec. If anyone has any contribution to this matter please advise

Need Help Translating Test For Renal Cell Carcinoma

My mother was a smoker for over 25 years and for a long time I hounded her to get a scan. When I explain my concern over her smoking history with her doctor. I was told bold face that her lung x-ray that came back negative was a good as any. Could you believe it, the nerve!!! Needless to say with out going into detail, I definitely made my self clear of my wishes.

The doctor put in for a referral only to be blocked by GHI 8 TIMES before they would approve a ct scan. Lungs came back good but obviously kidneys did not. Was told it was a complex cyst after the doctors appt I ran to the nearest computer and started my research.

Was referred to a inexperienced urologist by her general part. As you know by now I am fit to be tied. We have an appt with supposedly the fourth best urology dept in america here in NYC, I use the word supposedly because only if my mother is cured will they be the best in my eyes.

As I bang away on my computer researching this cancer which should be obsolete. I need help trying to decipher what is going on for my mom. So if anyone with knowledge of these impressions can help interpet them before our appt. I will be forever grateful.

Here they are

1) 2.8 cm markedly ehancing lobular mass at the upper pole of the left kidney suspect for renal cell carcinoma.
2) Findings suspect for a hypervascular metastasis to the right hepatic lobe.
3) Complex left adrenal mass with cystic and solid components and minimal punctate enhancement, most compatible with a myelolipoma though its nature as a metastastic focus cannot be excluded.

I wish you all the best
Thank You.

Metastasis Only Detected to Resected Adrenal Gland

My father had his primary tumour removed from his ascending colon in April 05. CT post op staged as 3 however CT picked up 4 cm tumuor on right adrenal gland. Were told by onco that more likely to be benign. My father then had 6 cycles of Folox ( Oxaliplatin ) followed by a CT and CEA. The CT showed nothing new, and the tumour on his gland had remained the same size however his CEA had risen from 30 in June to 74 in August. A PET scan and blood test followed which showed that the tumour was non functional and malignant. It has now been 4 weeks since his op to remove the gland and tumuor. He is still recovering from the op and we are concerned his wound is still healing. The onco has advised to discontinue with the Folox and do a CT/CEA early December. We are concerned about stopping treatment and would like to hear from people with a simliar experience. Continue to live hope and pray.

I was wondering if anyone out there has adrenal cancer? I have had my adrenal gland removed but the surgeon wasn't able to remove traces of it around my heart, spine and liver. Although I was told that I had a pheaochromocytoma I had none of the hormonal problems? I have just completed radiation therapy.
