Kidney Nodule???

I am 43 year old male. Had a MRI of my back for a back pain issue. They find a 3cm cyst with a 1cm nodule. Sent me for a CT with and without contrast. Family Doctor gets the report and tells me I need to see a specialist. I asked if it was anything to worry about and he says No but there is a lesion and we don't know what it is. After a CT scan and an MRI... I thought the reason for the CT scan was to find out what it was?!Can someone please tell me if I should be concerned!

abnormal ultrasound

Hi I am hoping someone can give me some information. A few weeks ago I had a bone scan for leg pain I have been having for about 18 months when it began I had a ct and mri of my abdomin and legs back and neck , nothing was discovered then the bone scan showed a full kidney. My doctor said he was not to worried though there is a family history of polycystic disease. anyway he ordered the ultrasound to rule it out he called yesterday with the news there is a solid mass in my left kidney. and now need a ct that I have to drink something can not remember the name. He said if this is abnormal then I have to go to urologist. he mentioned he was thinking tumor proably kidney cancer but did not want me to get scared. should I be scared? the new test is tuesday when should I expect results and if I go to urologist what do I need to know about this and what are the chances this is cancer and not just some abnormality that is the way I am no problem just different?

mri question

Hello everyone..I just found this site and need an answer to my burning question. I had an mri yesterday because my symptoms are: loss of memory, hand numbness, tingling, ringing in ears....mostly because of the memory loss. Anyway, doc ordered a contrast agent and the tech. told me she'd do 20 min of imaging and then do the contrast drug. I came out and she say radiologist said a contrast agent was not needed. couldn't tell me why of course. To me, that means he saw the problem without needed contrast...right? if he didn't see anything, to me, is when he would then use the drug. PLEASE someone give me their honest opinion. thanks

CT scan with nodule

Here is what the report says, I have no idea what most of this means, and how worried I need to be, and what course of action I should take. Any help would be greatly appreciated.I'm 41 with a history of 20 years of smoking. The test result was as follows; Some borderline lift hilar lymphadenopathy. Mildly prominent lymphoid tissue seen in the right hilum and mediatinum as well. The left hilum is mildly enlarged probalty due o prominent lymphoid tissue. This may represent mild lymphadenopathy. I see a small amount of lymphoid tissue in the right hilum. There is no mediatinal lymphadenopathy. no pleural or pericardial effusion is found. There is a tiny very dense nodule in the anterior aspect of the left upper lung. This probably abuts the leural. Dependent atelectasis is seen. No lung massess are eveident. No significant bony defects are imaged. My cardio doctor wants another CT scan in 6 months to see if the nodule has grown. Is this a good course of action and what does the rest of the above mean? HELP PLEASE. This is freaking me out.Thank you,

CT Scans of Lung Nodules

I haven't posted a message since August after posting about my CT scans showing lung nodules. My heart goes out to all of you who are going through the difficult times from these cancers. I took your advice and went to a lung specialist who reviewed the scans and he takes an approach of every 3 months do a scan. I just had my 2nd scan on Nov. 5th and have a follow up with the Dr. on Nov 13th, which is when I find out where it stands. But this time they did the CT without contast (the I V) as sometimes with contrast shows false results as it shows any broken blood vessels, etc. So I am hoping that the new one they found in my right lung (5mm x 2mm) doesn't show up this time. It was indeterminate the last time. The 7mm one seemed stable and hopefully, none of that has changed. I have changed my diet to one of no red meats (rarely) more fruits and veggies and vitamin supplements. I will keep everyone in my prayers and will let you know how my visit goes. I have confidence in him as he is going to keep a close watch on it due to the cancer history in my family. Makes me feel as though I am not just pushed aside as unimportant until the nodules get larger. Thanks to all of you on this site...it is so good to know that there is support out there. God bless all of you.Ally

Miasthemia Gravis and Thymona

Hi everyone,My husband is 32 years old and has been recently diagnosed with miasthemia gravis and his cat scam result had shown that he has a tumor in his thymus. We are really worried and scared. I would like to know more about the relationship between miasthemia gravis and thymus tumors. Which percentage is cancer? I have another concern, he had to remove his spleen after an accident several years ago. Does it have anything to do with what his is going through now? Any information would be really helpful. Thanks,Caring Wife

Suspicious node near stomach/liver

Hi, all. My husband is 7 wks out of treatment for throat cancer--stage IV with only one node. His weight is good, throat is healed, PEG tube is out, taste is coming back. His CAT scans showed that the throat area is fine and the tumor is gone, but the chest scan shows a suspicious node near his stomach/liver. The dr doesn't seem concerned, but we are. Does a single suspicious node indicate a metastasis? He's due for a PET scan in 5 wks. Will that tell us more? Has anyone had a similar experience? At this point, my husband's mental state is, ironically, at its worst. He is fraught with worry--can't sleep, very moody and anxious. He's on Xanax, but takes a small dose at night. I feel like he should increase, or maybe try something else. Any suggestions? Thanks,Jane

CT Scan of Lung Result

I received the results of the follow up CT Scan of my lungs after they found a nodule on my left lung on an abdominal CT scan last week. It shows two nodules approx. 7-8mm in the left lung and another in the right lung. As they are small yet, the recommendation is to wait six months and do another CT scan. My family Dr. was also my younger sister's Dr. who died at the age of 47 from liver and kidney failure. I asked him today if it was true that she also had lung cancer (told to me by my sister) and he confirmed that she did but the liver is why she died so quickly. This does not make me feel as confident as I did yesterday when I knew there was only the one small 7mm nodule in the left lung. I am going to look into natural ways to try and keep the nodules from getting bigger and to try and stop any more from appearing. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all for this supportive forum. God bless all of you.ally

Results of CT Scan

I went this morning for the full lung CT Scan and while I was at the hospital I went to medical records and got a copy of last weeks CT scan that detected the spot on my lung. It was an abdominal CT scan so only caught the lower section of my lungs. But I wanted to know which lung and the size as I have read a lot of stuff. I was very relieved to see this:7mm indeterminate lingular nodule which may be inflammatory versus neoplastic. Recommend chest CT correlation. This put my mind at ease for now as due to the size and everything I have read, the nodules are almost always benign. So unless they find more on the CT Scan they took today, I am pretty sure I am in the clear. I would strongly recommend that anyone who gets a vague "we found a spot on your lung" and that is all they tell you, get a copy for yourself to see what you are dealing with. Or ask the Dr. for the wording and explanation. I have spent the past week in a panic (well hidden tho). Thanks to all and God Bless. My prayers are with all of you who arent as fortunate.

False Positive PET ?

I am 55 and was Dx with Stage 1 Rectal Ca in 2005 just 1 year after being Dx with Stage 1 Lung Cacer. This was a second primary and not mets. I recently had a F/U PET that showed a new focus of activity with SUV of 7.2. My Onc thinks it is probably just physiologic since I had had a colonoscopy 2 weeks earlier. So I am gathering from this he thinks this is a false positive. Has anyone else experienced this.I always get a little anxious at scan time but I had never had a PET show this SUV level before Thanks for any input Debbie

inconclusive ct scan...please help!!

Hello! My name is Megg. I am a 30 yo female with a golf ball size lump just above my collar bone. This started out as a pea sized lump in November. I finally decided to seek the advice of my dr. He sent me to get a CT scan with contrast and it came back inconclusive. I am so confused and wondering if I should seek another opinion. Has anyone else had inconclusive (i.e. didn;t show up on the scan) ct results? Please, any advice , thoughts would be so greatly appreciated. all the best, megg

what else can i do

2.5 weeks ago I noticed some sudden pain in the groin area. Doc said probably an infection and not to worry about the palpable lymph. Within a few days I then had pain in the left groin and could feel another node. Another dr. says the nodes are normal(they are about pea-sized) Now I am having night sweats, legs feel heavy and noticing a few small red dots on my skin. My blood tests showed a slightly elevated platelet level, a low mpv and a high percentage of auto gran ANC) i think that is neutrophils. Slightly lower % of auto lymph Groins burn really bad when sitting and while my nose is clear it constantly feels dry and full of blood. Any thoughts. The pain is horrible and my wife thinks i need mental help. Also, mri was fine.

Lung & Adrinal nodules

My wife had breast cancer 24 years ago. Her smoker sister had lung cancer.Today she got word that a CT scan of her lower abdoman for pain showed she has two nodules in/on her lung, 4mm & 5mm; and one on her adrinal gland <1cm.Her GP suggests that she wait 2-3 months for another upper chest CT scan to see what happens. This is the advice she got 24 years ago - that she didn't take! The small benign lump was not benign! We are inclinded to find an oncologist immediately even though these nodules are small and chances are benign. Does anyone have experience with such small nodules and have suggestions? If three were found by chance the question is where did they come form and how many more are there. Thanks and good luck to all.

PET SCAN Resulst

I was diagnosed with non cell lung cancer Stage IA in Nov 2006. Before my surgery I had a PET scan. it showed a hot spot in in my LT pelvic region. Because I just had bladder surgery (bladder lift) I did not follow up on the pelvic hot spot. Now 3 months after my surgery I had another PET scan that showed uptake again in my left pelvic region. I had a ultrasound that was basically negative (small fibroid). Now they want me to have an MRI. Has anyone heard of false positive PET scans?? This is all making me nervous.

Strange PET scan results

I'll try to keep this shorter since the longer versions are in the Lymphoma and Ovarian Cancer area. After have a biopsy on a right thyroid nodule (it came back abnormal and detected lymphoma), and after having a CT scan which detected scarring in that area, I had a PET scan performed. When I got the results back, the doctors were as shocked as I.My thyroid came back negative.But...both my ovaries were really glowing.Shocking because I was expecting thyroid results...not so shocking because I've had problems for YEARS with my ovaries and the whole area down there (supposed IBS, interstitial cystitis, back pain, cramping that doesn't go away even when my period is over, bloating, etc.,)I am having a thyroidectomy (partial at first, fully if the Lymphoma is definitely there), because they take the biopsy results and CT scan results and the fact that the nodule has become bigger and the area swollen, more seriously. However, the oncologist seemed to brush the results of the PET scan on my ovaries away. "You were probably menstruating." When I told him I wasn't...not even close, he told me to have an ultrasound. I did. Know masses could be detected, but my right ovary was double the size of my left (though just withing range of normal size), and there was a significant amount of free fluid in the uterus, especially around the ovary.I've decided to have a laparoscopy done since my mother and grandmother had endometriosis, and cancer runs rampant on her side of the family.Has anyone else had strange PET scans like that? Looking for one thing, finding another? If so, what was done for it?

Mri of The Brain

Just thought I would post a message for anyone needing an MRI of the brain, but can not be still.

I work for an imaging facility in central NJ. We frequently do this exam on children, with out having to sedate a child. It can be done on anyone who can not be still.

It takes a total of 5 minutes to complete the exam. Its called a propeller exam.
They do the scan, then the software reformats the images.

I am not sure if all imaging centers have this software. It can't hurt to ask.

I hope this information is helpful.

Hot Spots on Pet Scan

I am one year past surgery, followed by radiation and 6 months past chemotherapy after upper right lobe 9.5cm poorly indifferentiated non-small cancer of the lung. Treatments were for precaution because the tumor had adhered to a small section of the lining of my lung. They think they removed all and no lymph nodes showed positive. I had a PET scan 4 weeks ago that showed "hot spots" where the original cancer was and also near my colar bone. My oncologist suggests we wait and reevaluate after 6 weeks. He says the "hot spots" could be caused by radiation or scarring and that if the cancer is back there is not much they can do anyway. Do hot spots show up from radiation or scar tissue? Should I be concerned?
