help

I took my two year old son to the doctor to check a bump I noticed on the side of my sons throat. The ENT mentioned that there was no infection and sent me to a cancer specialist. The cancer specialist had my son go into Quest for CT_Scan and for some blood work. According to the doctor, everything came out normal except for the size of the lymph node. Due to this, the doctor said that I had two choices. The first choice was to get a biopsy where there were going to remove the node and send it to get tested. The second option was to simply wait and observe. What do you reccomend? My son eats and acts like any other normal child. I am just afraid that if it is cancer, that it will spread once they try to perform the biopsy.

Trying not to worry

Hi,I have a few questions.I'm a 37 year old female. I haven't been feeling that well for a little over a year. Nothing horrible, just very tired, frequent infections, fevers. Even when I was on antibiotics I spiked a fever of 102.1 (lasted 4 days), and then it went down to 100.3. My eosinophils were elevated about 7 months ago (they were at 666), then in May 2008 they had gone up even more to 936. My skin itches and I have gotten rashes for what appears to be no reason. Doctor says it is probably from my eosinophils going up. Also have night sweats. My doctor did find some enlarged lymph nodes (left supraclavicular) and left groin. I was sent for CT scans with and without contrast (neck, chest, abdominal and pelvic scans). Scans showed in neck, left low attenuation level V lymph node, bilateral axillary nodes, bilateral inguinal nodes and left iliac node(measuring 2.5 x1.4 cm). The other nodes were ranging between 1cm to 1.3 cm.Radiologist recommended a PET scan, which I had today. What does "low attenuation" mean?I was also told by my doctor that CT scans are very good at detailed images and that is why they ordered the PET scan, because what the CT scan is showing is concerning and pointing to Lymphoma and PET scan can help confirm. Can CT scan really see things that well? But doc said even when PET scan is finished and if there is somehting diagnosis still can't be confirmed without biopsy. Is that true? (I am feeling like a human pin cushion) Sorry to complain, I'm just very concerned and trying hard to keep positive the waiting is awful. Thanks for anwering my questions in advance.Cheryl

neck lumps

Hi i posted this in another part of the forum but then thought it may be more suited to here, Im 19 years old and have two painless small lumps on the back of my neck, both are in my hairline that have been there for a few months now. One is movable and the smaller one is not as moveable. There is no pain. I am a bodybuilder, and have had neck pain for years. I have a few lipomas already, are these just more or is it something to worry about?I have no other symtoms like weight loss or fatigue, and i had a skin infection around the time i found the lumps. One worrying thing is that I have had Glandular fever and I know this raises your chances of getting Lymphoma.Thank you all for your help

Leukemia or ITP?

A routine physical turned into more than i bargained for when my platelet count came in at 110,000. A follow up 2 months later showed the same. Met with a hemotologist 2 weeks later and platelet count was 91,000. He took a bone marrow sample and I am now waiting 7-10 days for the results. Because I have no other symptoms he doubts it is acute leukemia. He says it is problably ITP, but he needs to rule out something more serious. He said that the rest of my blood work was all normal. Knew nothing about Leukemia before this, but having a hard time coming to grips with the idea I could be so sick, while feeling so good. Oddly, he said that the drop to 91K could be a good thing becasue Leukemia usually results in a steady, but gradual drop, while ITP casues platelets to jump all around. I would be grateful if anyone with similar experience could give me some feedback.

blood test and scar tissue

i have not been on in a while. my husband has been in remission for 9months.(he has stage 3b with symptoms) we go to the doctors every 3 months but they only order blood test and nothing else. my first question is if the cancer is starting to come back how soon does it show up on the blood test?when we first saw the doctors they said 3 three months chemo and no radiation but after they did a gallium scan they said surgery for one and 6 months for chemo followed by 30 days of radiation. so i am not to sure that the blood will show anything.second-before we found out about the cancer he had pain and tingling sensation done his left side. turns out he had a 9cm lymph node by his collarbone was pressing on a nerveand was causing this and that's why he had to have surgery. about 2 weeks ago he started having the same symptoms where his scar is, we went to see they doctor and she said there is a 50% chance it could come back in the same place but blood was fine. so she said to wait til next visit in three months.has anyone that has had surgery know if it is normal to start experiencing pain there year and half later?i have always appreciated the advicethank you

Should I be worried? Cancer? Hlep....

About 6 months ago I went to the dr. because I was not feeling well, the dr. felt my neck and said that he felt a lump. He ordered a ultrasound on my thyroid. Well long story short I never went to get the test. After feeling bad and always being tired I ended up go to the dr. about 3 weeks ago. The dr. reordered the ultrasound. the results came back that I had a lump on my thyroid. So the next test I had was thyroid scan. The scan came back normal and the dr. said that the lump is not on my thyroid. So now they have order a CT scan. The lump has been there for atleast 6 mo. I have been on antibotics a number of times for illnesses but the lump still remails. It is hard and does not hurt. I am 26 and I am always so tired, I just get tired from getting dressed some days. I have found a new lump behind mu ear and near my coller bone. I am very scared and nervous my uncle died from lymphoma,my mom has it, and many of my family has had cancer. Why are we doing a CT scan, what are they looking for. I am so streeed and have started to have anxiaty attacks. I don't sleep well. I know I have not been feeling well for some time now. What could this be/Thank you all for your answers.

I am 30. I was diagnosed August '07 with stage 4 follicular NHL. I have been on a trial. I have been taking rituximab. I initially had 4 infusions, over a 4 week period. Since then I have been having it once every 2 months. I have to do this for 2 years. My recent results are positive: no cancer in the bone marrow. My ct scan showed that the largest tumour which was 2.4 cm is now done to 1.2 cm.I previously had night sweats. They are now gone. I haven't been told that I am in remission yet, Should I accept that this will always be part of my life?I'm also concerned with ongoing CT scans. I will be having them every 6 months. I'm told I need them to check for cancer, but I also know they may create cancer due to the high levels of radiation. I'm confused.Thanks.t

Cardiac Lymphoma

I know it's pretty rare, but has anyone dealt with primary cardiac lymphoma? Actually, even something that's metastisized to the heart? My mom was diagnosed in January and after a long story and many leaps of faith, she had a lot of success with chemo. However, it appears there are still some lingering cells. Anything you can share about treatment, experiences, whatever, is helpful.
Two lumps.

Hey there. Well, about 6 days ago I found tiny [[about the size of your pinky finger nail]] lumps on my stomache, under the skin. There are about four or five of them. The next day I found a small, not movable bump on the right side of my neck. That same day, I found another smaller lump on the left side of my neck, both below the skin as well. The one on my right side has gotten a tad bigger but not much. They don't hurt. I'm only 14, by the way.For the past two months I've also been having really weird symptoms, Diahrea, spasms of pain in my stomach, dizzyness and fatigue. No one on my mothers side of the family has had cancer, but I'm not sure about my fathers side. What might they be? It seems like I keep finding more and more every few days.

Any ideas??

I'm a 29 year old female, I have a lump on my right neck above my collar bone, I found it about 6/8 weeks ago, In this time it has grown a small amount. I have other symptoms such as itching all over my body which began 17months ago, following the birth of my daughter (my only child). More recently I have felt very tired to the extent of sleeping on and off for most of the day. I have had a few hot flushes at night but not very often. I have seen my Gp who organised blood tests and a chest x-ray, the bloods were all normal and im still waiting for the xray results.Any Ideas?
