Preventing mouth sores and burn

Someone passed this tip on to us and we have shared it with many that have helped them. If you suck on and chew ice the entire time you are getting your chemo then it will freeze the mouth cells. This prevents them to be damaged so much by the chemo. The minute the chemo starts to enter you until the last drop goes in, you need to keep ice in your mouth. My mom did this for 3 entire hours straight. The one time she stopped to eat a sandwhich half way through her mouth warmed up and she got the burn a little worse. The first time she had chemo she did not know to do this and 100% of her mouth and throat was burned. She said it felt like somone took a blow torche to her mouth. After the ice tip she only have about 10% of the burn. She was doing Taxotere and Carboplatin.Hope it helps! God Bless you!

Getting Your Nine to 13 Servings a Day?

All the recent research suggests that we need to eat more fresh raw fruits and vegetables in order to prevent cancer and degenerative diseases. But how many? first it was five to nine, now its nine to thirteen. Why? Because they are showing that given levels of antoxidants and nutrients in the bloodstream lead to lower rates of developing disease and cancer. With so much research being done pointing to this conclusion how can we afford not to? Or should the question be how -Can- we afford to? Fresh, organically grown produce can be very expensive and not available year round. For those who can't afford to buy 9-13 servings a day, or those who just won't, I suggest a whole food supplement. I've found one made from seventeen, organically grown, fruits and vegetables. It's the only one I have found that's published in peer reviewed research journals proving that it significantly raises those levels of antioxidants and nutrients in the bloodstream. If you would like to learn more about it you can at --- Message edited by CancerCompass staff: for personal protection, url removed.
Cleaning The Home

I am a chiropractor who teaches people about the importance of the immune system and nervous system for the body to be able to fight disease. I have been paying more attention to research regarding chemicals in the home, esp. cleaning products. We just don't think about what we put in our shopping carts. Headaches, ADHD, asthma, and other debilitating diseases grab a hold of us when the body can't remain in balance. I found a company that manufactures safe products that work at a competitive cost. I've had patients with multiple chemical sensitivities, and I would say, I'm glad it's not me. But, it could be me...it's just a matter of time before my immune system gives out,if I just ignore the situation. I want to spread the word to folks who know the importance of protecting their immune system. I lost a number of friends and relatives recently to cancer and despite their efforts, something was still taking over their bodies. Dr. Lisa

Just a Friendly Advice

Let's be clear. Smoking is a dangerous and self-destructive habit. Various poisons contained within tobacco smoke cause or contribute to cancer of the mouth and lungs, heart problems, emphysema, gum disease and a variety of other physical diseases. Life Insurance companies recognize the disease causing properties of tobacco smoke by charging higher rates to customers who smoke. Smoking stains teeth, and makes people smell bad. It is an expensive habit as well.

Healthy lifestyles play a big part in reducing your risk of heart disease, heart attack and stroke. Better lifestyle habits can help you to reduce your risk for heart attack. You have to learn what you can do to help prevent heart disease and stroke. If you have more than one risk factor for heart disease or stroke, you could and should make lifestyle choices that can reduce your risk.
Talking about Smoking
Cigarette smoking is the most preventable cause of premature death in the United States . That's important! Want evidence of the dangers of smoking?
Consider these statistics:
A smoker's risk of heart attack is more than twice that of nonsmokers. Cigarette smoking is the biggest risk factor for sudden cardiac death -- smokers are looking at two to four times the risk of nonsmokers. Studies have shown that cigarette smoking is also an important risk factor for stroke. The evidence also indicates that chronic exposure to environmental tobacco smoke (secondhand smoke, passive smoking) may increase the risk of heart disease.

Working With Lasers

I have been working with A Class 4 Laser Hair Removal system for several years.I developed Metatastic Papillary Thyroid Cancer and have had surgery and radiation for treatment. I have been told by 2 Phycians that they feel my cancer is related to my working with the Laser. This has been my primary job for no less than 30 hours each week. Does anyone out there have a simular situation or know of anyone that does. Of course it is imposible to find anything on the internet ,as the Laser companys will not do or say anything that might cause a decrease in sales. As far as I'm concerned this isn't about money, it's about the safety of other health care providers and if this is a possibility, the Lasers should be regulated as a possible cancer causing device. At this point the only protection advised is...always wear your protective goggles. Looking forward to any help out there and thanks for you time,
