Worried about fluid around sons testies

I took our 20 mth old son to our GP today as we have noticed his left testical was swollen, my partner also checked him for lumps and was semi convinced he felt something. The GP had a good feel and my son screamed like mad. The GP said he has fluid around the testie and that it is common in babies(iv never heard that before though). He said to be on the safe side he wants him to have an ultra sound performed and then a decision can be made on how to deal with it.He was very cagy and didnt tell me alot.My partner had a testie removed due to cancer 3 and a half years ago, so you can imagine the thoughts that are going on in our minds. As well as that my partner has a son from a previous relationship who was diagnosed with lukiemia at roughly the same age (he has been in remmision for 7yrs). Has anyone else heard of this or am i reading to much into the Gps silence.

Hydrocele and Hernia -- and Test Canc

Hello all, First of all I am new to this message board. I found a lump on my testicle two days ago and since then many questions have come up. My father is a survivor of testicular cancer so it is in my family. My question is this: As a child I had a hydrocele and a hernia. I was wondering if there are any studies done on any link between hydrocele/hernia and testicular cancer. Thanks to anyone who can point me in the right direction. I am going to see a urologist in a week. Whats the exam like? I read something about illuminating the scrotum, but what else is involved. Thank You,J p.s. to all those people suffering, you have many people like you, who love you, and are with you. STAY STRONG!

Confused about symptoms...

Hi,I had a pain/swelling in my right testicle about 3 weeks ago. I went to my general medicine doctor who did an examination, said he didn't feel any lumps, and said it was epiditimitus. Went home for about a week, the swelling went down, but was still there. Went back, did another exam, said no lumps, gave me some anti-inflamitory stuff. At this point I was worried and went to a urologist who said he agreed that it was epiditimitus. He said to finish the anti-inflamatory medicine, then take advil for two weeks. The pain which had pretty much subsided came back one night, I was so worried I just went to the ER at my local hospital. They did a sonogram and found a spermatocyle and hyrdocele, and said that the epiditimitus was indeed inflamed. They gave me antibiotics and I saw the urologist again the next day. He gave me two weeks worth of antiobiotics. I'm into my second week, but I still have some pain/swelling, and am worried. My big questions is, would the sonogram have picked up any cancerous tissue if it any was there? I ask because I would have expected the symptoms to have gone away mostly by now after three weeks of various pills etc and am worried that this is something more serious. The right testicle is still a little swollen and hurts a bit, nothing like three weeks ago but there nonetheless.Sorry for the long post, just wondering if anyone has any insight,Thanks

lump

hi guys wondering if anyone can help me. had a small lump on my l testicle since i was 15. i am now 29. it hasn't really grown and i am in good health. however i know its not a hydrocele or anything like that - it presents more as what could be a tumor- but no swelling ever or anything like that. do you think it would have spread in the last 14 years if it was anything sinister as i'm informed that testicular cancer tends to spread quickly. i know i should go to the doctors.

Lump question

I had a vasectomy in August and this week noticed a lump in my testicle. Today the lump seems a bit bigger and is a bit painful. Post-vasectomy, I had no issues and no swelling so I assume the lump is not related to the vasectomy. I intent to call my doctor this week, but was curious to find out what symptoms others experienced and if it could be related to the vasectomy. Looking forward to reading responses....thanks.

metastatic testicular cancer

Germ cell cancer went to son's spinal column and was eradicated as germ cell cancer. It changed to malignant teratoma which has growing in it all kinds of cells, like epethelial, spindle and mesechymal. This is hard for us to understand and it seems it is rare so not sure how it works. Any one have any experience with metastatic testicular cancer? or what to do? any thoughts welcome.dad

multiple tesitcle lumps

I am 27 years old now. When i was seventeen I went to the doctor
with a lump on my right testicle. I had an ultrasound and a blood test.
They diagnosed it as a hydrocele. The lump is actually on the
testicle and about half the size of a pea. The lump is still there
today, with no pain unless it is hit. Now I have an even smaller lump
on the left testicle and it is more painful, mainly when hit but can
have a dull pain that comes and goes. I also have noticed a lump in the
thing that attaches to the testicle on the right side. I have an apointment with the doc next week.My
questiion is, Is it possible they could have diaged the first lump
wrong? Its been 10 years with no change. Is it normal for a hydrocele
to last that long? and is it possible to actually be on the testicle?
Also is the small lump on the left one any chance of being cancerous?
it is about the size of a pencil point. thanks for any info

Help!

Alright about two to three weeks ago I started to get red, itchy pimple type things around and on my scrotum... I figured it was just a rash or something and it would go away if I put on some cream or whatever on it so I just took my time and did that... The pimple like things on my legs started to go away so I was like ok cool no big deal (they still are on my scrotum - but the size of them has gone down) - then one day when I was putting on the cream I noticed a small lump on my testicles - it is not big, and initially it was a small bump about the size of the tip of a pen (the small part at the end, about that long, where the ink comes out) - it was sort of hard and it had not been there before to my knowledge. I do not know if it has grown since (this was on Saturday the 8th - I do not know because I really cant trust my mind right now - I'm so paranoid and have a lot of other things going on in my life). I have a very physical job and lifestyle so sometimes recently my back has been hurting but mostly I see that soreness coming from work and playing sports (at work I lift 30-100+ LBS pound boxes nonstop for 3-4 hours)...I'm getting an ultrasound tomorrow - I went to see my family doctor and he told me in all likelihood it is nothing serious and for a person at my age (20 years old) I had nothing to worry about - but that I should still get it checked out. What I am wondering is if anyone here has had these types of symptoms that I listed above and will list again here so you don't have to re-read: red, itchy, pimply mosquito bite like things on my scrotum & legs - very small lump on right testicle appears afterward. I am very concerned as any normal guy would be.Another question I have is how fast can testicular cancer spread to other regions of my body after noticing the first symptoms and how far does the probability of survival go down as time goes by... Thanks.P.S. I do have a dull pain in the testicles as well but I don't know sometimes I think my mind is playing tricks on me. Its as if the right side of my groin feels tighter or something.

Few Questions / Grape sized mass above testie

About 2 months ago, I found a good sized mass, right above my left testical, It seems like it is connected to the testical itself. My left junk hangs a good inch or so lower than the right side. Sitting wrong, or small things can make it quite sensitive. I do not have an insurance, so I have not yet gone to the doctor. Im concerned about spending more of my parents money on doctor bills, So if I do get help, I will need to make sure that all finacing will be able to be done without the help of my parents. Could I get some suggestions, or anything that will be able to help me, and also, I was wondering if I would be able to be prescribed marijuana for testicular cancer, in one of the 8 states which allow medically prescribed maryjane. Thanks

Any advice is appreciated

Hi. Well, I am 31 years old. About a week ago, I noticed a small weak pain in my right testicle. It came and went and I didn't pay it too much attention until I read on the web that this could be a sign of testicular cancer. When I say pain, I really don't know how to explain it as the pain is so weak, it barely hurts, but is more of an aggravation. Well, sometimes it hurts in my right testicle and sometimes in my left. I have done a self exam, as best as I know how and found no lumps. I paid my doctor a visit and he also did an exam, he said everything felt normal size and he couldn't feel any lumps. He prescribed me Bactrim DS and told me to take 2 a day for 14 days. I am on my 3rd day of taking this med and the pain still comes and goes. How long does it take for Bactrim DS to go into effect and do you think this is cancer?

treatment options - chemo vs. radiation

Hi, this is my first post. I was recently diagnosed with testicular cancer - stage 1 Seminoma. I had an orchiectomy and have been advised to have follow-up treatment. The radiation and chemotherapy oncologists both made a case for their treatment, and now I need to decide which course to take. I would appreciate any advice, and especially would like to hear from someone who has gone through either treatment, specifically with the chemo drug, carboplatin - 2 doses. I would also like to know how you manage to avoid cold/flu infections when you have elementary-school age children, and if the lowered immunity was a big issue. Thanks. Dennis

to all who responded about my last message

no this is not what u suggested I suggest we all do more research on this condition instead of letting the drs dictitate to us wrong, they are ususally wrong we have to do our own research because they do not know enough about testicular cancer, when u go to an ER and they just do a blood test, no urine or PSA test to confirm a condition reguarding , testicule pain, swelling in the scrotum, a Mass, tumor and give u an antibotic to shut u up and the pain is still there and u lost 26 lbs in the past yr and did not know why and then this pain in scrotum, and testicles show up, and no tests that should be done are done, and the radiogolist has his reports for the urologist to see a patient in 2 weeks for a follow up visit and his office never followed to follow up and the patient was depressed and scared they had this cancer and took their life something is wrong here and we have to stand up the the FDA and the Medical profession and take our health into our own hands and do not depend on what they tell us because most of the time it is wrong and u can be dead till u get an appointment if ever though the Urologist had the report to send yet the followup appt was never made there is a legal case here in my books for causation of my husbands taking his life and negligence of the medical profession the ER and the x ray tech that did the ultrasound and his reports are conflicting in both paragraphs he changes his mind in a round about way because he does not know how to report this . This ended my going to another Dr myself after they disable me 6 yrs ago with an injection and now my husband I would die before I would ever go to another Dr.

What's next?- HELP PLEASE!

First a brief summary, and then my question:My brother was diagnosed with testicular cancer in Dec of 2006. Since then he has had an orchiectomy, chemotherapy for twelve weeks, and most recently a RPLND because since his initial diagnosis the cancer had spread to his lymph nodes. When he was about 1/2 way through his chemotherapy he began vomiting and having extreme nausea and headaches. We initially were lead to believe that he was not getting enough fluids and that he just needed to be given some extra fluids via his picc line. That helped for a little while but the problems never really went away. Since his RPLND (over two and a half weeks ago) he has been experiencing severe nausea and vomiting. He can't keep anything down and has been relying on nutrition via his picc line only. He has had an MRI on his brain and an upper endoscopy to see if the cancer has spread, and both tests have come back with no findings. The doctors now have said that they don't know what to do from here. The 20 year old boy that is drooling, can't control his bodily functions, is so doped up on medicine to control his nausea that he can't remember his name, and is fading before our eyes no longer resembles my brother either mentally or physically. Where do we go from here? We are willing to travel anywhere. 50% of his care has been at Indiana University and the other 50% has been back home in Illinois. What doctors do we need to see? What tests does he need to have? Where should he be going? No one is willing to step up to the plate right now and really find out what's causing all of this....all I can see are band-aid solutions which is not okay. PLEASE ADVISE...
