Alternative Medicine

Has anyone tried any alternative meds. with this cancer?? Chinese herbs, actupunture..etc??? Also, I am interested in hearing from anyone who has tried or thought about hypnosis with cancer. I don't know anything about it, but it can't hurt to try. I've heard some good things about how hypnosis is workinig with cancer patients on giving them a more positive attitude and hope....which in turn helps them to saty fighting for longer. Please let me know! Also, thank you to everyone on this board who has written me with supportive advise and thoughts! It really helps!

RE: Alternative Medicine

We used different alternative medicine with my husband. Essiac tea was very good, the Gerson method (natural diet and juicing) also worked very well. One thing, based on my husband's experience, I would not agree to an esophageal stent. It was a waste of time and kept his stomach to mouth open, so he continually threw up. I would do the stomach or jejuneum (sp) tube for feeding. It is a must, in my experience.

RE: Alternative Medicine

I would highly recommend alternative therapies for this cancer. My husband was diagnosed november 2006 and went through chemo/radiation. I began changing his diet immediately upon diagnosis. Removed sugar...more green leafy veggies, juice, yogurt was a big help and supplements. During treatment he drank Essiac tea 3 times daily and took numerous supplements like zinc, magnesium, potassium and powdered vitamin c. I gave him baking soda to relieve any mouth issues. He now takes 3 shot glasses of aloe vera juice a day and a tablespoon of honey before going to bed. No alcohol, limited caffeine. I have him on a high dose of EFA's and CO Q 10. He went through treatments with virtually no side effects. He didn't lose his hair, no stomach issues, no diet problems, just a tiny bit tired. He was declared cancer free in march. Now our issue is they want to remove his esophagus anyway and he is not taking that news very well. I am trying to research the surgery and quality of life issues so he can make a good decision for himself.
