Terceva or not

My father has been diagnosed stage 4 cancer that has mt in his stomache. Pathology thinks it has originated in his gall bladder, he had surgery to remove a tumor in his liver a month ago. That is when they saw mt to different areas of his stomache. Dr. has started chemo and wanted to use Terceva, but the insurance co. (SCAN) has denied because Terceva is usually used for other types on cancer. We are thinking of trying to pay out of pocket but were told it was $2300 a month. We are having trouble getting info on whether we should try it or not. Dr. has given my father 8 months to a year. Is Terceva and ave we should travel ??

my mother was diag back in feb 07 and she has been battiling stage 4 cancer ever since she has had several rounds of chemo, to name a few gemzar and tarceva. Tarceva has been the only chemo that was working until she ended up with a bad side affect a very bad rash on her face. dr said it's one of the most commen affects but my mom's case was one of the worst he ever saw. so we had to stop it and ever since it has been down hill. this last round of chemo (tarceva) her bile got clogged and she eneded up with a infection in her blood so dr decided to stop all chemo and put her hospice. not to mention she has a blood clot in both her legs dr said her body is not responding and if we try another round she is to weak to handle it. I really hope for the best for you, i thnk tarceva could have worked if my mom had not gotten the rash.
