Mum passed away

My mum was diagnosed with stage 4 non small cell lung cancer in june last year. she had a pleural effusion which is how they detedted it. She had a course of chemo which the tumor responded well. Unfortunately she took a really bad chest infection which developed into pneumonia and never fully recovered and passed away 2 weeks ago on my son's 13th birthday. My family and I cared for her in her final 3 weeks at home with the last week being really tough. In the later stages she only wanted my dad with her as she didnt want her 3 kids seeing her as she struggled. Fortunately she passed very peacefully. We are all glad we had the cahnce to care for her but it was very hard and distressing. We all miss her very much.

I know that you must all miss her very dearly. But how wonderful that you could care for her, and give her comfort during her final days. I know it had to be really hard to deal with but just imagine how it must have given her warmth to know that her loved ones were right there with her. My husband has nsclc, diagnosed last June. We have had several bouts of infections and pneumonia since that time and each time this happens it is so frightning as you know. When I read you saying that your Mother died very peacefully it makes me feel better and I pray that my husband will as well. I also will pray that each day for you will become easier. My Mother has been gone aprox. 25 years and I still miss her. But as time has gone by it has been easier to accept. Take care.dorothy
