Lung & Adrinal nodules

My wife had breast cancer 24 years ago. Her smoker sister had lung cancer.Today she got word that a CT scan of her lower abdoman for pain showed she has two nodules in/on her lung, 4mm & 5mm; and one on her adrinal gland <1cm.Her GP suggests that she wait 2-3 months for another upper chest CT scan to see what happens. This is the advice she got 24 years ago - that she didn't take! The small benign lump was not benign! We are inclinded to find an oncologist immediately even though these nodules are small and chances are benign. Does anyone have experience with such small nodules and have suggestions? If three were found by chance the question is where did they come form and how many more are there. Thanks and good luck to all.

RE: Lung & Adrinal nodules

Hi!!!st of all I want to tell you that I am a registered CT tech...So I know a little. Nodules are not always bad...many people have them. Although with your wifes history, I can see why you would be concerned. You should consider a PET scan. Most insurances will cover the cost with a diagnosis of pulonary nodule, and I am sure that a history of breast ca would help also. With out seeing the scan/report its hard to say. But many many peopl ehave benign nodules in the lung/adrenals. Let me know if there is anything I can do for you. Kim
