RE: Avastin

I have had two treatments of Avastin for my metastatic kidney cancer. I will have three more treatments and then have a CT scan to see if it was effective. My Dr. is optimistic. What are your concerns? How is your wife?

RE: RE: Avastin

Hi Daniel, hope your doing well, my wife just had her second treatment Tuesday, so far so good, only thing is I had to disconnect her 5-fu pump early, she started with the diarrhea, my concern is the perforation of the bowels that scares me, she has gone through so much with surgery and the last one was at the point that the doctors started to worry that they were going to lose her, everyone tells me the percentage is small but it's out there, and my wife is the type not to let on with pain or discomfort, not to mention I was told it could be fatal. Maybe I'm over reacting, but when I look at my wife I see an innocent loving child in her that gives nothing but unconditional love to her family and my heart just bleeds, to see what she has to endure. I'll do anything for her no second thoughts.

Thomas, I am sorry to hear that your wife has had to suffer so much. I will keep her in my prayers and hope that Avastin will be effective for her. Fortunately for me, at this time I have little to no illness and am feeling well. I am hoping for
stabilization or complete remission with the Avastin, but then, aren't we all. I will receive treatment #3 on Wednesday. Please keep me informed of your wife's progress and let me know if she has any side effects, and I will do the same for you. My best to you...remember to take care of yourself also.
Hello Daniel, I hope you are doing well by now. It's been almost a year since you post.
I starting my treatment this week "avastin/ xeloda". I have colon mets to liver ,had resection of the colon in February /05 and hope that chemo help, so I can go for liver resection.
Was this, the combination chemo you had ? You said you had almost no side-effect...I know each person react different to chemo. Can you give some tip's in regard to the treatment and cope with effect. All the best to you daniel.
