My Westie has TCC

Tigger was diagnosed March 30, 2007...she turned 8 on April 1. I am sooo thankful for the snow we got in late February as my husband noticed the bloody urine, which sent us flying to the vet. After a couple rounds of antibiotics (as initial urine sample showed infection) our vet sent us to a veterinary oncologist. She did an ultrasound and found a growth in the bladder but it seems we caught it fairly early. It's not in an area conducive to surgery; the possible surgery would be too hard on my baby so we decided against it. Tigs is on Piroxicam and so far has shown no ill effects. We were lucky to have a compounding pharmacy next door to the oncologist, so the capsules are "Tigger size". I've checked quite a bit of this site tonight and I'm still trying to digest all the info! I'm so glad to have found this site as it's obvious there are many caring people here, wanting to do the best for their fur-kids. We're just at the beginning of this journey, so I'm going to be visiting here often!Tomorrow I take both my Westies to have blood drawn for a TCC study being done (Westies are 4-5 times more likely to get this than other breeds). They want samples from Westies diagnosed and those without cancer...I have one of each. I figure if we can help a pupper in the future it's worth it.I'm rambling so I'll stop now....just glad to have found you all!

RE: My Westie has TCC

I have recently gotten TCC news too....I've been finding some interesting info, non-traditional. Approaches developed by Dr. Hulda Clark are very interesting. A couple of her books: Curing All Cancers and Curing Advanced Cancers, Preventing All Cancers, etc. Her research is fascinating and it is encouraging to read about "healing" possibilities instead of the other, "here's what we can do, but it doesn't help much other than buy a bit more time."
